Chiropractic is a widely practised treatment procedure which is aimed at diagnosis and treatment of various problems of the nervous and muscular system. Chiropractic care is a complementing alternative medicine technique with tremendous benefits. It doesn’t have any side-effects and is aimed at imparting general wellness through stimulation of various body parts. It generally helps in treating the disorders of the musculoskeletal system, following the hypothesis that these disorders greatly affect the general health and well being of an individual. The main chiropractic treatment consists of a manual therapy which includes manipulation of the spine, joints and soft tissues. Chiropractic care for general well being also includes exercise, health and a healthy lifestyle.
Chiropractic treatment is very useful in the treatment of back pain, neck pain, joint pains and other neuromuscular problems related to the spine or other bones, joints and tissues. Chiropractic treatment is extremely helpful in recovery from traumas related to accidents, injuries or displacements and fractures.
The general misconception is that chiropractic care is limited to treating back and neck pain. Although many people regularly experience relief from back and neck pain through chiropractic services; but the foundation, intent, and vision of chiropractic is far beyond removal of symptoms. Chiropractic treatment is helpful in various other health related issues. Patients suffering from various problems like diabetes, heart problems, and psychological issues have found relief through chiropractic care. Chiropractic care imparted to pregnant women has shown great benefits. Even new born babies can be given chiropractic care to relieve stresses due to birth procedure.
Just like you regularly visit your dentist for a dental check-up from time to time, one must keep visiting their chiropractors for routine spinal and other bone and joint check-ups and relaxation. Spine is the most important skeletal organ in the body which supports the entire body weight of an individual and maintains proper posture and also helps the individual to stand and sit properly. It is important to properly take care of your spine.
The non-surgical and drug-free healing provided under chiropractic care provides a variety of health benefits to an individual. Most chiropractic patients experience real relief and improved general well being, and continue to make regular visits a part of their healthy lifestyle choice, even after having been treated of their problem.
Healthy exercises, massages and improved lifestyle, which make a part of the chiropractic care, provide an individual with a healthy and disease free life. It makes the bones and joints stronger, healthier and less prone to injury and wear and tear. The customized care which one receives from their chiropractor can help to improve their posture, muscle balance and mobility.

Nearly 50% of Americans and Europeans suffer from Dyspepsia. This illness is characterized by pain, indigestion, heart burn, excessive belching and abdominal discomfort. Most of the patients who have these symptoms do not suffer from any particular disease and they are considered to have functional dyspepsia.
In a recent study, a team of 621 members of the Chiropractors Association of Australia was given a survey along with a questionnaire which was to be sent back within a time frame of 10 days. The main aim of this was to find out how often patients suffering from Dyspepsia consulted chiropractitioners, the treatment techniques adopted by chiropractitioners and how efficiently there were able to provide relief to such cases.
Response was gathered from 66 surveys. Information gathered revealed that the most preferred method of dyspepsia management was by adjusting the thoracic spine (91%), followed by nutritional advice (74%), cervical adjustment (68%), visceral manipulation (55%) and soft tissue work/mobilization (52%). It was observed that only in less than 50% cases, herbal treatment or homeopathic remedy, pelvic adjustments and lumbar adjustments was recommended.
Approximately 30 brand name techniques were used by chiropractors in managing dyspeptic patients. Of these, the most commonly used technique was sarco occipital technique (41%), Activator Methods (36%), applied kinesiology (32%), relaxation techniques (30%), and cranial techniques and Terminal Point Technique (27% each). On the whole, chiropractors considered their methods to be very effective in managing dyspepsia. In a survey conducted, ninety-five percent of the respondents rated chiropractic management to be very effective or moderately effective while only 5% considered this method to be mildly effective.
Researchers felt that their finding related to effectiveness of chiropractic treatment provided further scope for investigation in the form of randomized and controlled clinical trails. They also concluded that further research in to the usefulness of independent methods as well as those particularly stated would be adding value.
While this study enlightens some curious associations between dyspepsia and chiropractic care, readers should understand that more than 60% response rate is accepted as a standard for any survey.
